Hello! I wasn't sure if my five would be big enough for the african dwarf frogs or not. I only have 2 left. I feel like they aren't getting enough food in my 55 with all the fish. I've lost two , and I'm not sure if it was the salt I used to use treating for ich or if they aren't getting enough to eat. I hardly ever see them. They hide in the cave......... By the way my five will be empty in a couple weeks or so when I put my platy fry in the 55. I know if I put frogs in now they will likely eat the fry.

The 5 would be perfect for the frogs. You may have lost your frogs due to drowning...That is how all of mine went in my 60. If the tank is over 12" then tend to not get to the top of the water in enough time.

5 would be great for them. I have 2 in a 5 right now along with an oto and a couple dwarf puffers. If you add some driftwood or something for them to hide under, and a couple plants, they will feel right at home.

Hey Guys........

Thank You so much for the info. I just hope they live until the fry are big enough to move to the 55. I guess I will need a different fry tank if the frogs make it. I think my other two platys may be pregnant to. Thanks again !! Oh what do you guys feed your frogs????????? I have been putting flake food, dried brine shrimp, shrimp pellets and blackworms periodically, but am not sure if they are getting anything...............

I use frozen bloodworms, and occasionaly sinking frog pellets. They love the bloodworms, and lately will even come up and eat out of my fingers (so will the dwarf puffers!). If you don't think they are getting enough, maybe you could try distracting the fish with some food, and put some of the worms directly in front of the frogs.. it normaly takes them a minute to figure out whats going on, but once they smell it, they will run into many walls and plants and such finding any food close by :P

I feed them freeze-dried bloodworms, usually. I moved them into a 10 because the 29 was a little deep, and the fish are far more aggressive at going for the food.

I have a small terra cotta saucer in the tank, and you can leave sinking food right on it, like a dish. I tap on the saucer as a signal that it's time to eat. I also take the freeze-dried bloodworms, and stick them into the mouth of a turkey baster, and feed the frogs right from the turkey baster. They'll also eat right from the hand, once they stop being afraid of your hand.

I feed mine regularly Live Black Worms. I take a spoonful and dump in my 5 gallon every other day. They are fat and lazy. :D
Mine are in a 5 gallon tank with plenty of plants, a large mass of Java moss for them to hide in and duck weed for them to hide under.

I'm surprised the puffers don't bother the frogs. How long have they lived together and how old are your puffers?

I've had the ADF's about a year now, and the dwarf puffers for about 5-6 months. I'm not sure how old the dwarf puffers are- i imagine they must be around 9-12 months if store was selling as young. The puffers don't bother the frogs at all- they pretty much ignore each other. The oto on the other hand is pretty funny and will sometimes be munching along a wall and then run into a frog and start munching stuff off his back until the frog gets freaked out and scurrys away :p
