I will be moving soon and it'll be a 4 hour drive. I want to bring my fish collection w/me. I have a 8" jardini, 7" senegal, 6" RTC, 7" FH, and a 6" Pleco. Can I just bag them individually and put them in an insulated container? Will they survive the 4 hour move? Do I need to oxygenate the water? If so, how long will they survive in the oxygenated water? Is there a better way? I don't have much experience and I will be very grateful for any input. Thank you.

When I sold my jardini, the people buying them lived over 5 hours away. They came and we packed the jardini (8") and a 12" pleco and their 125g tank all in one deal. I put each fish in a seperate 5g bucket of tank water and they used a cigarette convereter and to run an airstone to each bucket. They put a lid on each bucket and up the road they went.

Maybe they were just lucky, but both fish made the trip successfully and are doing just fine.

Tks guys. I was thinking I might have to use some type of airstone/airpump due to the long trip to ensure their well being. Might not want to take the chance of just bagging them and throwing them into stryrofoam chest. When people order fish online and they are overnighted. How they ensure the fish will be live on arrival?

Also, how to i transport the bio material? If i just keep'em saturated will that be ok?

tks

I have moved a couple of times. I went to a LFS and they packed up the fish for me and added oxygen to the bags. then we put them in a styrofoam container to keep them insulated. They lasted for 24 hours, just enough time to move and set up the tank and I did not loose one fish.
