Unknown Marks on Fish

I had to reregister my name, cause I guess I didn't post here in a certain amount of time, oh well, here is my question.

I have a Cichlid that just got a weird spot above his side fins on the right side of his body, it is just above and behind his gills. I've never seen gill or skin flukes before so I was hoping someone would be able to help me out with these photos. The other day I saw him rubbing up against some pink smooth rocks in the tank. I attributed this to some bizzare mating behavior confusion, as his mate who he has spawned with several times already is the same color pink as the rocks. But not he has this weird spot on his side.

Looks like the fish just rubbed off a scale or two, I dont think you have anything to worry about. Take a close look in a week to see if the spot has gotten any larger

That is one of my thoughts, but I'm worried about skin flukes. I've never seen those before, so I'm not exactly sure what they look like. I've had scales come off other fish before and they lookek a little different then this, more square patterns missing. This is an irregular shaped patch.

Thanks for the idea though. I added some melafix to the tank, so if it is just scales, it will help them grow back a little bit faster hopefully.
