I have a 100 gallon (6'x19"x18") and was wondering what else I could out in it to finally finish it. Right now I have 3 clown loaches, 7 cories, 1 bristlenose pleco, 2 blood parrots and 6 gold barbs. I was thinking of bringing my school of barbs up to 8 or 9. What other school of fish could I add that get to a fair size without overstocking? I was hoping to get a school around 6 or 7. Any ideas? Thanks alot!

Well, since you are a tetra lover, how about a school of Diamond tetras?..they would compliment the gold barbs nicely.

I was thinking of maybe some tetras, but the diamonds don't seem to be very colourful. I was thinking maybe some bleeding hearts since they get a bit bigger. Or congos? I don't know.

With that big of a tank, it's hard to overstock with adeguate filtration. Are you keeping live plants?

oy, but let those diamonds get settled in, they are quite stunning to look at. Especially in a school of 10 or more when they are in a breeding mood...They are a little on the expensive side though, but so are congos I believe. Either would look nice.

Yes I have live plants and my filters are a 500 AquaClear and a Ehiem 2128.

How about a school of some small tetras. Say 20 or 30 neons. That would be stunning.

This is a good photo of a male Diamond tetra in breeding color...as you can see, they would look awesome with the yellow/gold barbs.

Neons always look awesome in large schools, but I would be worried about the blood parrots making them lunch...I never owned a blood parrot, don't they grow larger than angelfish?

I think the diamonds look very pretty but I have strong lighting and a light brown substrate which I'm afraid will drain out their pretty colour. I kinda like the idea of a large school of small fish, sounds interesting!
I have a small group of congos in a 55. They are gorgeous! I got them when my LFS was having a buy one get one free sale. SCORE! $3 a piece! If you get some, just be sure to try to get even numbers of males and females. If there aren't enough females to go around, the males get a little fiesty with one another!
I like the idea of a large group of small fish. Very pleasing to the eye. I happen to like the larger fish though. Keeping a smaller number of larger fish allows you to really know them. I am so close to my congos, I am near naming them. (Does anyone else here name their fish or am I the only dork? :D )
Good luck!

You could get a few more very nice plecos, like a scarlet pleco, gold nugget pleco, or clown pleco. They would look great with the bristlenose.
