I am no expert, hopefully others will chime in, but Ich takes a while to treat (weeks)and there is no guarantee that it will work. I would have left the fish where she is. What is the amount of salt that you say was appropritate? What are your water parameters? If they are no good, it won't help with the Ich.

Keep the molly in the main tank, theres no reason to remove her.

How much salt did you add and how quickly?

What are your water parameters?

Higher temps mean less oxygen. If you use a HOB filter drop the water level so it agitates the surface more or add a bubble wand.

edit: Ok I just re read your post, drop the water level a couple of inches, the splashing while annoying will add O2 to the water.

Don't do a 90% pwc, you'll just stress the fish more. What was your pwc regiment before this? If you've been doing weekly changes you could possibly do a 50% without much stress. But remember you'll need to add the salt back after the pwc.

I've done the heat/salt method and it took between 10 days and 2 weeks. The ich was gone after 3 days but they say to keep the treatment going for a week after the last ich is seen. That way you're sure to get any eggs that are laying in the substrate when they hatch.

I just fought off an ICH infestation... or so I thought.. I found a spot on my Rainbow today... @#@#$@#$, but the Clowns look clear....
I think perhaps it takes longer to show up in the other fish...


Did you just do the salt? or did you try meds?

The only fish I lost was a German Blue Ram, and I think this was because of the medication. ... no.. I'm SURE Of it... I MOVED these fish.. they would not have survived another treatment(salt may be different story though). One died, the other is still holding on, and is showing signs of recovery. None of my other fish showed any obvious effects. (knock on wood, I'm still treating).. even the clown loaches look good. However, tank size may mean something. Again, this was my first encounter with ICH... I'm not expert..

You don't want to combine meds with the salt treatment. Just stick with the salt/heat as you've read, and also continue it--as IceH2O points out, it can take 2 weeks, for me 3, but I wiped it out and haven't had a recurrence (knock on wood!!) Good luck. Sounds like plenty of aeration going on there, too.

FWIW, "regular" kitchen salt works just as well and is less expensive. Iodized or non, no matter...

CajunFry, did you raise the salinity very gradually?

Ich can take awhile to totally dissapear, but once its gone (and you quarantine ANY new arrivals!) its gone for good. Make sure your tanks water is very clean, do more water changes than usual, and keep up with the salt regimine.

Don't lower the temp. If anything the higher the better, take it as high as the fish can stand. Heat speeds up the ich lifecycle making it a quicker kill and clearing of ich from the tank.

After 87/88 degrees ich can't reproduce.

That is a terrible article. 6 tsps per gallon? Do they want an ich treatment or fish pickles? You should not need to go higher than 3 tsps MAX and 1.5-2 tsps will do nicely.

Copper should NEVER be put in your tank; there is no way to remove it and it is very toxic.

The temperature needs to be INCREASED, not decreased. You want to speed up the life cycle to get the cysts off the fish as soon as possible. The cysts will kill the fish. The sooner they come off, the sooner they are killed in the free swimming stage.

Regular table salt works fine as was already mentioned.
