Hello.... from a 7mo newbie!

I have an Saltwater Master Liquid Test Kit, but it only tests for the following:

high range pH (7.4 to 8.8)
ammonia (NH3/NH4+)
nitrite (NO2-)
nitrate (NO3-)

When I do these tests... I am always getting the right results, however I know I should be testing for other things that are important for a reef tank, like calcium and such.

I also purchased some quick dip test strips... but they test for the same.

What test kit brands do you use and what do they test for? Are they helpful?

I had Seachem Marine basic for ph, alk, NH4, nitrite, nitrate. Doubt about the accuracy and got Salifert. I then found they are pretty co-related.

Recently I got Salifert for Ca and Mg.

I use Hagen but always have as does the LFS so I suppose it could be equally wrong in both places. I will say I bought a Corallife hydrometer and it did not work at all. In fact, since my previous one broke, I thought it was working all along and actually my salinity was way too high. I would not buy another one but it is possible I had a bad one in the batch.

wow so many test kits? Do I need them for a small tank with few fishes?
