Strange Fry

Good Evening Everyone,I have a question that I hope someone can answer.I had a female Dovii and a male Black Convict in a 100gal. tank.I did not know the sex of either one untill the female laid eggs and a couple days later we had babies.A few of my friends want some of these kids.How long do I have to wait untill I can give them away.They are about a month old and getting big. :huh:

I would say when they are free swimming and are able to swim around and are feeding that they are OK to go, others may have a diff opinion though

creating hybrids in the cichlid hobby is considered bad husbandry for many reasons which i won't decorate this thread with. i would urge you though, NOT to give away any of the fry. spreading them throughout the hobby will significantly increase the chances of this hybrid having further negative impact.

The point made in the post above is not to pollute the convict or the red devil bloodline. The reason not to hand out hybrids is so they aren’t rebred thinning down the bloodline. If you do give some of the fish out make sure you know the person getting them understands this and will not breed the fish. You have a huge responsibility here.
