Hey All,
I am setting up a 29 FOWLR in a few weeks. I thought I had a complete understanding of all the equip. but I am confused on one thing.
I was going to order 2 AC powerheads from Big als todays. If my tank is 29 gal should I get two that are rated for 30 gal. or two that are rated for 20 gal.? I know alot of people feel more movement is better so will I will be ok with two rated for 30 gal.?
Thank You

you're better off going w/ the 2 for 30 gal. you want to turn your water over at least 10x per hour. im actually currently turning my water over nearly 30x per hour. so yeah, the more movement teh better to an extent.

Yea but still to much water current is kinda bad because your fish will have to be moving around in the water alot more. And get stressed out because there is no place to rest. Think about it, if you big huge fans in a small little room, would get a little annoying. so If you want a powerhead either get one or get alot of hiding spots so that they can rest for a little bit but still get the two. Right now i just have one powerhead, I did have two but I took it out because they were getting a little stressed out.

This is saltwater tanks were talking about, there's usually lots of rocks where there is low flow places for the fish. Also, the ocean has a LOT more water motin than even the highest flow reef tank, the fish will have no prob with the high flow.

Awesome all thanks. I think I will order the 2 for the 30's. I heard that most prefer more flow but with a 29 I just wanted to be sure. Thanks Again
