My wife's family lives in Kinshasa which is on the west edge of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are planning on visiting them in the next year or so and I would love to work out a short "safari" that would allow us the opportunity to collect cichilds to bring back to the US. What could be a cooler momento of the trip than a tank of cichlids that you cought yourself when visiting family?
I'm trying to find someone who organizes safaris or would otherwise have knowledge on transportation across Africa and what is involved in importing cichlids. From what I've read, the transportation industry in Africa can be very corrupt and knowing who to "tip" and how much can be the difference between getting things done and getting stuck in red tape.
Has anyone here had experience gathering cichlids themselves?
