I recently purchased a breeding pair of Kribs. However, I hesitated because the male had a wound... probably from other fish at the tank during the mating.

I bought him, and a bottle of MelaFix. I did NOT us ehte Melafix right away(at the advice of the pet shop guy). After a couple days, he started to show some white fuzzy parts to the wound, and I started to use Melafix...However, I left the Carbon in. When it got worse, I removed the carbon. I've now done two doses of Melafix with no AC.

However, the infection is now much larger(starting to puff out from the body) and I see where he has some by his dorsal fins as well.

He's behaving normally....

What should I do?

Is Melafix the right thing to use? At this time, there are only three fish in this tank(37g). How long should this take to heal? Will he be OK?

I shouldn't have to return/exchange him should I? I have 7 days and I might not get a breeding pair.

Rule of thumb for me when looking at fish is if one fish in a tank is injured/ill i wont buy anything from that entire tank. Its so easy for one fish in spread an illness across an entire tank and into yours when you get home.

If he has a fungal infection you need to get a fungal treatment. I cant remember off hand which but a simple look at the stuff ou have will tell you what it treats. If it doesnt do fungal then nip along to the fish shop and get some that does. If one fish has the infection you NEED to treat the entire tank not just him.
