Feeding up female gourami

having kept several species of gourami but never having had a go at breeding them I have decided to give it a go. I have a beautiful pair of bronze thick lipped gouramis. I seperated the male from the female and have had the female in a 13 gallon tank for over a week now. My ph is 7 and my water parametres for ammonia nitrite and nitrate are 0. When I first got the female she look quite gravid but she has now gone thinner. I have read that the best foods to feed her are brine shrimp and bloodworms. My question is this how often a day should I be feeding her this food ? Should you feed her exclusively on live food and nothing else and failing getting hold of brine shrimp would the freeze dried variety do just as well? Also how do you know when she is finally ready to mate so that i can introduce the male?
