I have a 72g tank with 4 platies, 4 swordtails, and 6 blue danos. I got these fish all at the same time about 6 months ago. I want to add more fish, but I'm not sure how to go about doing so.
I've heard that you need to keep the new fish in a "hospital" tank for at least two weeks before adding them to the main tank. If I have to do this, what is a good size tank to get, and also, how will I know when they are ready to be moved to the main tank?
Thank you very much for your help!!!

If you stick with smaller fishes (at purchase size, not adult size- it's only temporary) a ten gallon will be great for a quarantine. Generally, 3-4 weeks is the recomended quarantine time, and if you get a disease, you traet that disease, and wait another 3-4 weeks with no diseases before introducing it to the display tank. It is completely essential that you do this , but if you buy a diseased fish, only the fish in the qaurantine will get sick and not all the fish in the display tank, so quarantining new arivals is obviously the intelegent way to do things.

Also, before you even go to the fish/pet store to buy fish/inverts, use this page: http://www.aquahobby.com/e_gallery.php, to pick put some fish species that get no larger than 4-6 inches (for the most part that's the largest size fish you could get without the larger species snacking on the danios) and is compatible (compatiblity doesn't essentialy mean there temperments are compatible, the ideal water params should be simialr as well) with the other inhabitants on your aquarium.
