I came on here a couple of months ago, looking for help troublshooting the cause of why my aqua-mini is leaking.

someone mentioned that when i had taken the motor off to clean teh whole thing out (i spilled crushed coral), that maybe i dind't tighten the motor properly into place again.

so i checked, and sure enough, that was the problem.

the solution worked for about 5 weeks, and now it's leaking again. i tried doing the same thing, but it's not working, i'm still getting a few drips a minute -- which isn't much at the moment, but i'm sure it will get worse.

are there replacemtn parts, or is this just hopeless, and should i be looking into a new filter?

thanks in advance!

You could try replacing the seal ring around the top of the motor.

Are the threads on the motor housing messed up? Or the threads in the filter box? You know, the raised pieces that allow you to screw the motor onto the filter box. Maybe a piece of the thread is missing, cracked, or something? If so, I wonder if teflon tape wrapped around the motor housing threads would do the trick? I don't know if teflon tape is fish friendly either. I'd check out the O-ring like Elmo suggested too.

Teflon is inert so there shouldn't be any chance of it harming your fish

thanks everyone!

when i get home i'll take a look at the threads and let you know if that's the issue..

thanks! :)
