I have to admit I didn't used to be a fan of Banana plants until I got a few in a random assortment that I purchased online. I didn't know what to do with them so I stuck'em in a corner and let them do their thing. Wasn't I surprised when last week one of them sent up a stalk wth a lilly pad on it. I didn't know they did that!
I have obviously changed my mind about Banana plants since they are growing so wonderfully in my tank with no special care and very little pruning. Once they're grown out with large leaves their "weirdness" goes away and they are very attractive plants.
I have about 3.5WPG over my 40gal with DIY CO2 and a fert regimen based on Seachem products. One of them recently sent up a 'lilly pad' stalk, and just sent up another in the past couple of days.

Except for a 50% weekly water change I don't fawn over my tanks so the plants that do well have to be hearty. This one definitly ranks among the top five. I can't grow anachris or hornwort but apparently I can grow banana plants like it's nobodys business.
Has anyone here ever got theirs to flower?
