I've got a big cyano problem in my tank. I have tried all of the remedies and no help. I am thinking of just removing all of my LR to clean it but not sure if this will hurt. First the sand now the rock is being covered. This is really getting bad.

Have ou tried using a siphon tube (from a gravel vacum used in freshwater) to siphon all the algae off?

yeah, i've tried that and either my syphon had no power or whatever it didn't work. I tried this yesterday when I was changing my water I took out some of the LR and brushed it off with a toothbrush. I had one he** of a mess. I need something else I don't know what but this crap it starting to get me down. Would adding a couple more fish help here? Inverts are not the way I see that right now. I have a hard time getting macros to grow because my fish won't leave it alone..............

You could always use chemi-clean or maracyn 2 (SW version) to kill the cyano. Be sure to do a 25% water change afterward.

been there , done that. Even used Red Slime Remover a couple of times. This stuff will not go away. I left my lights off for 2 complete days and that didn'y help much. As soon as I turned my lights on it came back in a couple of hours, why?

do you have your tank positioned by a window where sunlight hits the tank?

no my tank sits in the dark pretty much. The only light is from the light over the tank and the room lighting which isn't on all the time. I have concluded that the lighting is my problem, but what do I do? I leave the lights off for a couple of days and the cyano pretty much dies out. I turn the lightys back on and within the cyano is exploding to a blood red color. I just changed bulbs about a month ago. I use a PC 50/50 bulb so its not that bright. What do I do here? I can't just leave my lights of all the time. Should I remove sand or what? I'm lost here, HELP..................... :shark:
