When it is so hot outside these days in Vancouver (something that does not happen too often), the water in the tank getting warmer and reached 84F.
I was wondering whether it is going to hurt my fish and whether there is any way to cool the water down with out getting a chiller?

aim a fan to blow over the tank surface, or even move it to the basement if possible. floating freezer packs in the water works, too.

A fan tends to work pretty well. In my tank I have 2 small computer fans and they can drop my temps about 5-10D F which is nice when it starts to get up to 85D F. Do a search for cooling fans and you should see what we are talking about. You can also take a look at the following link for some help.

You can freeze a few (sealed) bottles of water and put them in your tank.

You can keep the top open (lower water level if there's jumpers).

Blow fans over the surface of the water
