someone suggested that the ammonia remover for the aquaclear filters is not a good thing to have. she was saying that it regenerates the ammonia that it actually clears. she also mentioned that i'll have to remove my ammonia remover bag slowly and that i would have to cycle my tank from scratch!! is this true?

yes and no ...
the ammonia bag is a type of carbon that sucks in ammonia ... it locks it there but that means your filter isnt growing enough bacteria to cover the whole tanks needs. When you remove it the bacteria will need to adjust to the greater load.
I dont know why they sell those things :/ its just trouble if you ask me.

oh man thanks alot for the advice.....now if only i can jet from work and rush home to remove that thing. cuz right now my water is in good shape. 0 ammonia!!! so there's a chance once i take out that media i'll get an ammonia spike?
Yes.
You may go into a mini cycle.
Maybe not.
Depends on how long you've had it in there.
I don't think they last the whole month they say it does.

i've actually had it for about 4 months....so does that mean that the bag is probably at this point useless and that it didn't block any of the ammonia?
probably.
Just watch your water when you take it out
