i wanted to know everyones opinion on weird physical strains of fish (baloon mollies), hybrids, and dyed fish (yes i know its cruel, but some people think its ok to do)
Personally, I think most of them are very sad looking and very much an eyesore. I don't like them at all. I do feel bad for them though, it's not their fault.
I was in a store a couple of days ago that was selling "tattoed mollies" - the white mollies had been tattoed somehow with neon stripes in whatever colors you can imagine including rainbow. I was going to buy some toys for my parrot there, but instead I dropped them off with the manager on the way out and explained with some detail that I wouldn't be supporting a store that sold tortured fish. Dramatic...maybe.
yea they either use a needle like on ppl, or they use a lazer to tatoo them. i saw a couple of pics of a blood parrot that was tatooed to have flowers and lipstick on
I saw those mollies in a super pets here in Peoria as well. The person right behind me in line had some, but I figured they wouldn't listen or care if I said anything, so I didn't. Guess I didn't do my good deed for that day.
i dont think it was ich... it wasnt all over the body... it starts with an Ly something i think... i knon what it is i just cant put my finger on it...
i personally like blood parrots, but many people think they're gross and deformed. the ones i've seen seem pretty happy although the fact their mouths can't close is kinda disturbing.
yeah, injecting dye or tattooing fish is totally stupid. why do you want fish to have lipstick??? that's just asinine.
as for the overbred goldfish (celestial eye, bubble eye, no dorsal fin), i think they're pointless and dumb looking. i guess they're like those dogs that have all kinds of health problems, just so they look "right". pugs that can't breathe without snorting, Dobermans with hemophilia, German shepherds with hip dysplasia, deaf Dalmations.
so to me, breeding is OK as long as the animal is still able to FUNCTION the way it should and be comfortable.
