Betta Questions

I am thinking of setting up my old 20 gallon and putting my betta in it. I'd like to know if I can use an under gravel reverse filter with a betta, and I'd like to know what other fish would be good to put in there with my Mister Sammy. I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
 
I had a betta in with my fish, mostly non agressive fish. Plecos, lampeyes, mollys, platys. Just watch out for silver dollars, they like to peck at the bettas flowing tail.
 
IMO there is no 'perfect' fish companion for a betta-- I've read stories of both compatibility and aggression with almost every type of fish here on AC. However, if you decide to put Mr.Sammy in with other fish, keep a close eye out for aggression, stressed out fish, or missing fins/ tails. I would be prepared with a second tank in case things don't work out.
