Hi everyone! I have had a Platy for about five months. He seems to be doing great. However, some of his scales, that were once all black, have changed to a sort of iridescent/mother of peral-ish color. It started on one side, but has slowly changed a bit on both sides.
The fish acts normal. I do weekly water changes. My parameters are always great.
The only bad thing in my tank is that I have been dealing with diatoms for several months now. I have just been dealing with it by large water changes, wiping down tank walls, and removing and washing plants. I don't know if that could have anything to do with the scale issue of not.
The scales to not look raised or irritated. They don't look to me to be fungus or algae, but then again, I don't really know what to look for. They just look a different color. I just want to make sure this isn't something that I need to treat.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!
