I am currently treating my 75G for parasite in my Gouramis. I noticed the pleco had something hanging out of his rear the other day and have kept watch to see if it changed/went away, etc. I haven't gotten a good look at the underside of my pleco until just recently as the old tank he wouldn't hang out on the front glass much. He has been there a lot in the new tank, so I am not sure if this is a part of the anatomy I never saw previously or something else. There is a white 1/8-1/4" long wormlike object hanging off of him. It has showed no change in 4 days. See pic below. I am treating the tank currently with Jungle anti-parasite medicated food, but I am not sure how you get a pleco to eat the stuff. Please help identify what this is and if it is a parasite, how do I treat it?

Anyone with ideas on what that is on my pleco? Do I need a pleco anatomy lesson? :)

It's hard to see from the picture. It may be an internal parasite, most likely a tapeworm or nematode. I don't think it's the plec's intestines coming out, so you don't need a pleco anatomy lesson. I have seen fish where the guts are coming out (don't ask), and they're much larger and thicker.

I don't believe plecos have any kind of intromittent organs (IO), like a gonopodium on livebearers or claspers in sharks, skates, and rays. Even egg-layers like some sculpins can have an IO, but I don't think plecs do. Someone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong.
