I came home and found my Angelfish twisted and bloated. Anyone have an idea?

Internal parasites or bacterial infection?

Well, I'm not absolutely sure what you mean. The scales on the fish were normal, no discoloration or anything like that. It looked fine except for the twisted and enlarged body.

I am also a fellow North Carolinean, I live in Chapel Hill. Are there any specfic fish shops that stand out among the crowd?

Not sure about Chapel hill, but two in Raleigh are Fish World on Capital Blvd, and Fish Pros off of Hillsborough st.(Etta Burke Ct.), and in Durham, Triangle Tropical Fish off of Roxboro Rd is your best bet.
