bettas, drawf gourami, rasboras, smaller tetras, smaller danios, ottos, smaller corydoras, smaller live bearer species, most killifishes, ect. The possbilitys are endless, so you need to do your own research on what you want or your tank won't actually be what you want but what somebody suggested. If you give us the species, we can give you the numbers/wether or not you can have them, so pick out some fish for yourself at freshwater fish databases (such as the one at age of aquariums) and you'll actually have what you want.

What about neons? How many could i have in a 10 gallon with good filtration? Could i have a bala shark? (I ahve always wanted one) If i could what could i put with it? I will continue to think of what i want, thanks for the link thats really helpfull!!

neons are good. 6-7 should do well. balas get to 1' in length and need schools, so they are totally out of the question.if you get neons, all i'd reccomend would be some/a small bottom feeder like 3-4 otos or corydoras catfish, or a BN or rubberlip pleco, but not a regular one, they get to 20" long! have you cycled the tank?

No Bala Shark, Neons are a good choice if the tank has been cycled. Get a mix of Neon Tetras and Black Neon Tetras.

Is a 10 gallon tank too small for an angel fish and some neons?
Thanks

angels will eat neons, and a 10g is too small for an angel (20g tall, barebottomed, with nothing else in the tank is minumum).

You could go with up to 10 neons if there was nothing else in the tank.
