So I am taking a break from Saltwater, I've been doing it for nearly 10 years and I kinda want to get back into freshwater. The aquarium is a 55 gallon, acrylic, long. I have a wet/dry filter, fluidized bed filter, magnum canister filter, protein skimmer(though I won't need it, or so i think...) 2 65 watt powercompact smartpaqs, and a few rio cicrulation pumps. I have been considering going with piranah species tank and live plants, kind of an amazon aquarium, but i have no experience with live plants and nutrient additives, etc. What kind of substrate should I use? I know plants will do pretty well with that lighting, but are there any other reccomendations/suggestions you all might have?
