wee! I got a V trap for the new mom. And, i'm curious...are newborns suppost to be impossibly small? I only see eyes connected to a nearly hairsmall body. Is this a newborn? The female is very agitated that she's in the V trap, and can see the males. How can I tell she is ready to release them? I'm guessing she is now only because the fry i have now are visible..and the newest ones arent. Any ideas? suggestions?

Depends how good your eyesight is. I have 100% corrected near-sighted vision, and guppy fry are pretty easily visible for me, but YMMV.

They are about 1/4" long at birth, if this helps.

livebearer fry are one of the largest of all fry, as they have to straight away watch out for themselves to stay alive...and they are pretty well visible. you'll not be in two minds about them when you do see them.

hope this helps.

I never had problems with fry being eaten but then again, i keep my fish in a heavy planted tank. I never ever use breeding traps, I find that they tend to stress the Female to much and may cause aborted fry. this may be the reason why you have such small fry. I always find that if you ignore them, that is when you have a ton of fry.
Best plants of choice are Hornwort and java moss, with lots of driftwood and other natural hiding spots for the fry. After a few days you will see them all scurring all around your tank.
best of luck.
