So what do you all think about my 20gal as posted below? Is it over-stocked? FYI I change 30-40% of my water weekly, my water parameters are great, and my fish are healthy and active. I think everything is good to go, but what do you guys think?

It seems a bit crowded with the pleco and angel - when full grown they'll take up some real estate. The rams - one of the prettiest fw fish imo - are attractve centerpiece fish for that aquarium. Let them grab the attention.

Your tank is overstocked with the angel and pleco in there, and should be overstocked without them (tetras should be kept in schools of atleast 5-6).

NO!

wat kind of pleco do u have?

I realize that the pleco will get way too big for that tank and I plan to move him to my 55gal once I get it up and running and he gets big enough to look after himself. for now, he is very small but growing. I figure that by the time I have the 55 up and cycled he will be about ready to move. My wife bought the Angel and it seems to be doing ok for now. I think he may get moved to the 55 as well (or returned to the LFS when she is not around).

My larger Tetras were originally purchased in groups of 3 back when I was a newby. I lost 1 from each species while I was in Iraq and I just never got around to beefing up their numbers when I got back.

A quick question about the Angel. Is the over-stock issue due to the Angel space requirements or full grown adult size? Both? I am still pretty new, but I am getting the hang of it slowly but surely. Only 1 death in the last 6 months and that was an unfortunate cash of Ick which was immediately quarantined.

It is very good that you are getting the 55 cycyled for your common Pleco. I have one that is 12 1/2 inches and he just got moved from the 55 to a 75 and there is still not enough room for him. So make sure that in the future, a year or two, you will be willing to upgrade to about 100G for your common pleco. My is a joy to watch and he is a very gentle giant.

yeah, I always loved plecos. my mother wants to start a 100g tank and rescue one that grew too big for it's previous owners tank.

Wow!! I have seen a pleco at 10", but I had no idea they could get to be much larger than that!

Thanks for the advice about the Angel, although I am a little concerned about what I am going to do with it. I had really planned to make my 55gal and Africans tank so I am afraid that the Angel will not do very well with the more aggressive fish. Any suggestions. I really want to do the right thing for ALL of my fish.
