Gouramis build a bubblenest at the surface of the tank, sometimes incorporating floating plants or other vegetation, sometimes not. They lay the eggs and the male tends to them for a week or two. When he gets worn out from protecting the nest he will eat the babies. You can remove either some babies, or the gouramis and other fish from the tank at this point. But just remember gouramis lay hundreds of eggs. It is best to let nature take its course and only try to raise a few of the young.
Good luck,
Mary.
