I have bought a 3 inch frontosa and at first it was eating flakes, but now it doesent seem to eat anything. It has dug a pit in the crushed coral gravel. He is by himself in a 29 gallon tank.I kno they are meat eaters but would they eat lettuce from a veggie clip.what should i try feeding him. :(

hmmm, you know they are meat eaters but you want to feed it flakes and lettuce? feed it small pieces of shrimp, fish, clams ... freeze dried krill is also good. meat. can you say meat?

of course you know that a 29 gallon tank will hold this fish for perhaps 3 months. you should have him in a 75 right now.

Frontosa are notoriously slow growers, so if its a small frontosa it could be okay in the 30 gallon for up to 6 months. Granted, the more space it has then the better water conditions and thus the faster it will grow. Eventually it will definately need a 75 gallon, if not larger since they are community fish and there should be a colony of them, requiring at least a 120 gallon.

A high quality cichlid flake/pellet food should suffice along with a treat of brine shrimp, krill, and/or mysis. If its really not eating anything there could be a more serious problem.
