Betta Bubbles

Hi,
I'm a new Betta owner, and right now I need to change the water in the tank - it's a bit cloudy, but my Betta is blowing a bubble nest. Should I change the water now or should a wait a bit? I was told that when they blow bubble nests that they are happy, so I didn't want to disturb him. Should I change it anyway? Please let me know what I should do.

Go ahead and make the water change. Blowing bubbles just means he's...erm..horny. Water changes are needed to keep general health up.

there a female in the vesinity? because i dont often hear of male bettas blowing bubble nests without one being nearby...

anyways, i would definately change the water, do not comprimise tank hygiene...he can always blow another nest, but not if his dead. however, i would be careful as, if he is in the mood for breeding, he may get a bit aggresive, so watch urself....

I've never had a female betta before, and all of my males would maintain nests. I think it has more to do with water temp than anything else, but I'm not a betta expert.

Heh, that's perfectly normal. I raised bettas for years and they blow those nests whether there's a female around or not, as long as they're happy.

Go ahead and change the water as usual. He will make another. :)

I just wanted to thank everyone for your great advice. I just cleaned the tank. He's a bit agressive and didn't seem too happy - I think he even changed color!! But at least his tank is nice and clean.

Your Betta is definately blowing bubbles because of the presence of a female, but the female is you! Heck, I blow bubbles everytime you're near me too! Love you!
