i have a 55 gallon tank i need you help like what kind of decorations shuld i get im thinking of getting a piece of Driftwood sould i put it in the Middle of the tank or to the side of the tank and what are some good Decorrations for the fish?ps Community tank

Its really up to the owner of the tank. I personaly like a big peice of driftwood put in the middle of the tank. Might be nice to put some live plants in the tank as well. Most any decorations that are designated for freshwater at your LFS would be fine. As for rocks ask to be sure they dont change Ph. Things like clay pots for plants are ok as well.

Have a look at the Members Aquarium Specs section here, under General Topics for some ideas. I think theres also a sticky somewhere for tank pics...

Here is my 55gal. I never put decorations in the middle it makes the tank look a little off.

The rule of thirds is always nice....mentally divide the tank into a grid of 3x3, then place focus points at the "lines" or "intersections".

Trial and error. Just move the wood, rocks, and anything else around until you like the way it looks. Make sure you have a few hiding places though. For pics of my 55 check my sig.

you may also base part of the layout on the choice os species you place in the tank.

I have cichlids

many species like to hang around structurr..your driftwood can provide part of that structure.

I am getting ready to set up a 30 with the driftwood set off center and to one side. i will tuck some anubias nana on the driftwood and place some plants around the driftwood..since this tank will house a pair of breeding angels and a pair of breeding rams I also plan on setting smaller tangles of driftwood and plants on the 'other side' of the tank. I plan on leaving an opening in the center of the tank in the event that the fish choose to have swimming room.

now if you have species that like to hang around a patch of driftwood it might be a good idea to p[lace the driftwood in the center of the tank..it may help to keep the fish to the center of the tank.

as always be prepared to move stuff around.
