OK, the other day I wrote wanting to know if I could add more fish to my 55 gallon tank. Well I was feeding my fish earlier and got to looking at them closely. One of my Black Skirt Tetras is noticeably fatter than the other 3. Could it be that I have more fish on the way, or this fish just the "pig" of the group? Do they lay eggs? How long does it take? What do I need to do if it is expecting? HELP!!!! How do I take care of the fry if that it what this is? Thanks for any info guys!

Tetra's are egglayers. Maybe it's just fat.

the females are plumper than the males...so it could be that its just a female. otherwise, it could be rowed up with eggs. i dont think tetras are in the habit of just 'getting fat'. if you wish to breed this fish, then i would set up a smaller tank with a sponge filter, spawning mops and the water slightly soft and acidic. feed live, frozen or freeze dried live foods, and keep temp at aound 27C. good luck. oh, and when the eggs are laid, remove the parents. once the fry are free swimming without their yolk sacks, you can feed them infursia (sorry...spelling much to be desired.).
