Well i am getting a new 55g tank in 2 weeks and i had some ideas for fish in put in there.... please let me know if they are ok together? I was thinking of putting 5 blackshirt tetras, a few mollies or guppies, 2 honey gourami, 2 blue dwarf gourami, 3 panda cories, 3 peppered cories, 2 3 spot gourami, 1 angelfish, 1 german blue ram, a few cherry shrimp, and a few amano shrimp, and maybe a clam? Of course these fish will be introduced over periods of weeks but i just want to make sure they will go ok together... Thanks for any input... :joke:
DO NOT PUT oppostie sex mollies/guppies becuase you will have to start buying more tanks for fry. Unless....*gulp* you want live food. ..But their too cute for that arent they?
On to the point, I think you overstocked a bit with gouramis and angelfish. They can get agressive and start figting over territory.
I think you should cut down a little on the amount of fish stock.
If you want all the gouramis and other little fish, I would ditch the Angelfish idea. Unless you really wanted angelfish of course, then I would ditch the gourami idea and get a few more angels instead. I think 1 angel by himself may not thrive as well as a few nice angels living comfortably. Plus there is some extra beauty to a few awesome angels cruising around in your tank. They will look spectacular by themselves let alone a few other small fish.
One last thing. The angels will grow quite large if kept for a long time. They will need some room for themselves as they mature. Just keep that in mind. Good luck!
The angelfish and 3 spots will more than likely eat the shrimp. I would not mix angelfish with large gouramis. As pallen suggested, go with angelfish or the large gouramis, but not both in that same tank. A 55 really isn't that big and both species are territorial and can be aggressive.
Take care,
Mary.
