I just recently purchased two gorgeous crown-tail bettas, and I can't help but notice that they are much more active and energetic than my other bettas. These are my first CT's, but in all I have 6 male bettas in their own 2gal tanks by themselves. I thought of adding 1 snail to each tank later on.

They seem to flare much more often than my other bettas also. One in particular is constantly flaring at his reflection, and at the bettas in the tanks beside his tank. When he isn't flaring he's constantly swimming in circles around the tank.

Are CT bettas more energetic like this, or is he stressing out too much? I don't want him to kill himself by doing this constantly, if this is harmful to him.

My mom has 1 crown tail betta(I think ) and it isnt that active. But of course its only in a 1 gal...... My mom doesnt believe bettas need anything bigger.

I have had a crowntail (Bubbles) for about a month now (slowly getting back into the hobby, it is my only fish at this point.) He has a Cambodian body, with the points of the crown extending out quite a distance from the webbing. The fins are red but have blue at the edges where they are attached to his body (if I recall, this is caused by the butterfly gene?)

I had another betta when I was a kid and it wasn't nearly as interesting as this one. Bubbles is very energetic, constantly moving. He is also always working on a bubble nest. He lives in Poland Spring bottled water. Bubbles flares at me for three days straight after I change the water because it tends to ruin his nest. I don't know where he gets the idea that he will get a girlfriend to make good use of the nest either...what the hell would I do with 100something Bubbles, Jr'?
