:help: Can someone give me a list or give me a link to a list of durable saltwater fish?
Thanks for your help :hang:

This piece of advice comes from a newbie of 1 month and I can assure you it is proven!

Damsel - yellow tail. This guy is just great. If he can't survive, never try anything else other than life rock! :thud:

Depends on what you consider "durable" and what size the tank is (so we can give you a list for to your tank size specifically).

Almost everyone eventually regrets using the standard damsel - they're mean, mean little fish.

I use blue green reef chromis (about $3 at most LFS), which also occasionally turn aggressive, but apparently far less often.

Also, LiveAquaria has a list of 'saltwater fish for beginners' - you may consider looking at that list, reading their descriptions, and making your decision that way...

it will be a 55 gallon with cruched coral for substract and live rock. I'm not sure what kind of filterazation i should use nor what size.
Thanks

well crushed coral isnt realy the best substrate. it would be fien for a FO, but i wouldnt even recomend it for a reef.
for filtration, id jsut get a protein skimmer, some powerheads, and a HOB filter for some carbon use.
and i dont think i would just hunt for "durable" fish. IMHO, if you have to realy look for special fish that will survive all, then your tank may not be ready. because although a damsel will probaly survive situations that a more sensitive fish may not, you coudl still be putting the damsel in a toxic environment. like when so many people cycle with damsels. often, their gills can burn from the amonia and never be corrected.

The green chromis can be very aggressive within a group of their own species. Say you have six, it will end up being two. And if you try to add more smaller ones, be prepared for a war! (Like I saw my chromis do yesterday)

Certain damsels also grow up and out of their juvenile coloration and become ugly; shades of brown and grey.

well, i already have a fw tropical community tank (55g). I have another 55g tank and I'm wanting to do a sw tank. Can I get some suggetsions on what to put in it?...substract, filters, fish...ect.. thanks
