I am wanting to add more fish to my tank- I currently have a 29g- I have 2 sunset coral dwarf platys (about 3/4" long) and 1 spotted catfish cory. I want to add to both of these species, but am wondering if they will school with different varieties of the same species. For instance- will the dwarf platys school with regular platys? Same with the corys- I have seen some other cool looking varieties, but don't want the one I have to be all alone in the world. Do they need to be similar sizes? I almost bought some more of the same variety of corys today at the store, but they were all much bigger than the one I have, so I wasn't sure. THanks for the advice-

The different varietys of corys are not the same species, and corys are relluctant/won't school with other species of corys in in my expierience.

It is best to get the same type of cory that you already have, you will be rewarded with fun, natural cory behavior :)
