Here's the last of my catfish. I'm still looking for more. I have high water temps due to keeping Discus (about 85 degrees).

Definately a cory, I have my money on C. Trillineatus, it might be a C. Julii. But the Julii's generally have clearly defined spots (versus the line/splotches on yours) and a less defined lateral line.
As to the temperatue, I think he and some new buddies ought to be fine if you acclimate them... I've never kept them with discus, but I've heard of others doing it with no trouble. They're peaceful and like to go in schools, so I'd find him some more friends. They will school across species, especially similar looking species, so keep that in mind if you cant' find any more exactly like him =)

i would say its a julii...but that would ultimately depend on the size of it, as julii's do not attain a size a big as other cories. i would advice against keeping cories with discus, not because of the temp of water parameters, but because they are a very fast little fish, and their trips to the surface for air could make your discus very nervous.

I don't think that it is C. julii but I am searching through my Cory books to make a certain ID.

its got the right colouration, and the typical 'babyish' face of a julii....thats how i recognise it.

Spottedcatfish, I do believe that you are right and that the mystery Cory is a C. trilineatus. For it to be a Julii, I think that you would need to see fewer blotches in the facial area.
One thought, though. When the picture was taken, the Cory's fins were clamped rather than held erect. I think that Discus temps might be a little much for the fella. If you see him continue to have clamped fins, he will need a new tank situation.

Thom, all my pics show the Three-lined having more resemblance to this fish than the Julii, and my personal Julii (verified by many quality LFS employees) looks very unlike that one.

Sorry, man! I am just a scholarship nut, so I work a little too hard to do verification!!! :) I'll try to tone that down in the future! :)

np m8, dont worry bout it. i went and had a look at my julii's after reading this...and their faces have got a fair amount of blotches on from what i see, only the colouration is not as intense.

I've never had the trillineatus, but I've had alot of juliis. I'd have to say that that's a tri.

Just for the record, I was using a couple of Planet Catfish photos to make the ID. If you go over there, pull up a C. Julii photo and a C. Trillineatus photo, you can do a quick compare contrast, I love that site =).
Have to share this though, when I went I bought my "C. Julii" from the LFS way back when, one turned out to be a C. T and the other a C. J, and even the catfish couldn't tell the difference!

Aside from actually identifying it as C. julii or C. trilineatus, there is the problem of buying more. Fish suppliers often sell C. trilineatus under the name C. julii. I would go with looking for the best visual match at the LFS.
My vote is also for it being a C. trilineatus.

i would say its definatly a cory. maybe a new species accidentally bred.
