It's been awhile since I posted. I recently purchased 3 wild caught female Mpimbwe Frontosa to go along with the 2 males and 2 females I already had. All 7 are in a 125G. The largest male is about 9". The other is 6-7". All five females are 5-7". I assume there's no reason I can't mix wild and tank raised. Here's a pic. I'll add more soon.

All the better for the gene pool! Have the ones you originally have mated?
Do you purchase online? I am interested in starting a colony. Have any suggestions? Any links for websites that will help me for my research?
I will keep my fingers crossed for you, greg I hope they all get along and they start producing for you. The pics look great too. Good Luck and keep us posted how things work out.

NYQYL: How I got each of these 7 fish was kinda interesting. The three wild caught specimens I just received were bought on-line from Cichlid Importers in Virginia. One male and one female were purchased in upstate NY and one male and one female were bought downstate NY... Getting fronts is not that hard, however, I did find it slightly more difficult to find large Mpimpbwe fronts on-line that didnt cost a fortune. The prices I got when looking ranged anywhere from $50 a fish to $149. Shipping was also all over the board.
Errn7...my fingers are crossed also.
Perritto...No, I have had no matings yet. That's why I purchased only females. Having 2 males and 2 females previously was not the best ratio for breeding these big guys.
