Ok, so I just got home about an hour ago from the Petsmart a town over. The fish there all are really healthy and kept impressively well for a company like Petsmart, much better than the Petco in my town which I'll never buy fish from. Anyway, they had a great selection of Cichlids and I chose a Firemouth and a JD. Both about an inch in length because I wanted to get them young to witness their growth.
OK
So the only complaint about Petsmart is I told the woman who caught my fish to get the darkest Dempsy in there...(there was about 6 JDs total, 2 dark 4 lighter) the woman who caught my fish had to chase it around the tank for a while until I finally told her just get either of the two dark JDs whichever you can catch first because I realized how stressed this was gonna make them. As she took him out and put him in the container he looked really pale and I said something like "Is that the dark one??" and she told me that it paled out due to stress. So I asked her "Will it darken back up?" and she just told me that she :"doesnt know".

Basically what I'm asking is, first of all is my little JD gonna be ok, because hes still quite pale now after being in my tank for 45 minutes or so, and second is he going to darken back up? The firemouth seems to be doing just fine and they've both already selected two little vases I put in their sideways as caves.

Thank you for anyone who decides to help me.

it's quite common for fish to exhibit such stress when chased around the tank by someone with a net. turning pale is simply a reaction to that stress. the fish 'should' be fine as long as you've acclimated it to your water chemistry and maintain the water in a very clean (ZERO ammonia and nitrite) state. give him a few days before worrying further.

Thanks, my friend told me to put newspaper around the tank to help them get acclimated...is this a good idea?

You really don't need to go to such lengths to make him/her happy. I wouldn't put the newspaper there, because you want him to get used to seeing people and being seen as well. Young JD's will change color all the time based upon how they are feeling, other fish and stress levels. Don't worry, as long as your water chemistry is good, he'll be back in good shape before you know it.

Alright thanks for the help everyone. I just went to Petco to buy some of those tank buddy things that you drop in there to instantly get the water to the right levels just in case Im reading the test strips and stuff wrong but I guess that Im just worrying a little too much. It is the first day and stress is probably expected.
