ok if i get this regulator,http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/regulator/double/742HP.shtml
I think that i still need a needle valve.

I found a 10 lb tank very cheep ($30.00) and got it filled for like $11.00

I ordered a hagan bubble ladder, which i think will work fine for my 40 but what about the 125 gal? will the bubble ladder work for it?

I will replace the sump with 2 eheim pro II canesters, if the ladder will not work i guess i can plumb a one of these onto the return lines

thanks

Yes you need a needle valve.

I have run my co2 thru my Eheim Pro II 2026 for 5 years with good results. It runs in through the intake so the impellor can pulverize it. As a result I have never used and form or reactor or diffuser.

I believe you also need an adaptor - I don't believe the standard outlets of most kegerator/beverage CO2 regulators will fit standard aquarium CO2 tubing. That one is 3/8", and I believe (IIRC) that you need a 1/8" output to do it succesfully.

For this set-up the outlet barb would come off and either a needle valve or solenoid/needle valve combination would screw into the bottom of the regulator. The CO2 proof tubing to go into the tank would run from the needle valve.
Have you decided whether you want to incorporate a solenoid into your system?
Either way, Rex can send you the proper size needle valve or solenoid/needle valve for that regulator.
I would send him an e-mail with a link to the regulator and tell him what you need and he will advise you on what he has for that purpose.
I believe he also will put together that reactor for you.

FWIW hmt321, I built that reactor and hooked it up to the output of my magnum canister. It works great and is cheap to build.

I think that that's a wise decision.
Also, I agree with wesley's advice on the reactor being installed on the return side of the cannister. From all reports, it works just as effectively and eliminates the chances for locking up the cannister on that side.

In order to screw my needle valve into my regulator output I had to go to a local plumbing supply place and buy an adapter. It cost a couple dollars. if you do this be sire to use the teflon tape on both connections to insure a leakproof connection.

ps- I really hate the no edit policy here. I typoed any as and in my above post and now cant correct it.

Hey TwoTank - chalk it up to just one more really weird restrictions foisted on the posters here. I didn't even notice that they changed policy, but it doesn't surprise me in the least.:(
I've been posting here for years and it's really changed over time.

I have been reading, more questions

ph swings are induced when I shut off the co2?

or

are ph swings induced when there is co2 injected w/o light being on?

what is the best way to get rid of wild ph swings?
