suggestions for fininshing off 20 gal tank

hey

for the community tank below, after i put in a few more cories, should i add a couple blue dwarf gouramis, or a few guppies. the main things i want are hardy, long lasting, cheap fish, and colors that stick out because all the fish i have now except the swords are too light-colored to "stick out" in the tank.

You need more danios, aleast 3-4 more. After that, a single drawf gourami like you said would finish it off(no more fish after that).
 
I would add a coupe more cories, and a few more danios to make them feel more at home but stop there. Dwarf Gourami's temperents can very from very friendly to damned mean, so with other peaceful smaller fish like those, i wouldn't risk adding a Gourami. What you could do to give the tank a nice look if you havn't already is add some live plants / driftwood. This will provide some contrast for both the dull and colorful fish.
