Hi I posted this in the newbie section but got no response, I just thought I would try here as I am sceptacle now as to whether these are compatable. I have a small pink reef lobster about 2" long. Two different shops have told me it would be safe with my dancing shrimp, gramma and clown. Does anyone have any experience with these lobsters? Also at the moment I am feeding flake food and frozen blood worms (occassionally), is this likely to be suitable for the lobster not to get hungry and go hunting for the fish/shrimp, or is there other things I should be feeding? Thx

I had FW lobsters (crayfish or what ever). I also was told that they are OK with other fish but that they "may occasionally nip a fin here or there". Within a few days I realized I was missing a fish, then another and another without a trace.

Guess what - they nip heads off too and then they eat the whole fish overnight. Eventually I put a blue lobster in an Eclipse 12 gal tank. I added 36 minnows for his pleasure. Even though I fed him sinking pellet food those minnows were dropping in numbers every couple of days.

I'd be very careful with a lobster in any aquarium, SW or FW.

Any picture to see? Cause it's very hard to tell that whether it's reef safe.

THanks.

i love the reef lobsters. i thought about getting oen for a long time. but you cannot jsut let them scavenge or they will go hunting. some will even hunt fish and other inverts even if they are fed often. plus as they get large, they can cause rock slides.

Thx for the replies, I too had a crayfish in my 20gal freshwater. I never bothered putting fish in with it as it used to go for my hand whenever i put it in so fish wouldnt have styood a chance. I just presumed these would be different and nowhere has conclusively said different yet. Although it isnt looking great for claude at the minute.

I am in work now but will post a pic once i get home. Thx again.
