hi,
I have a ten gallon with a small 2-3 inch oranda. Would a small comet or shubunkin do ok or should I get a few white clouds instead. They dont need a heater do they? Just wondering what choices I have on getting a second fish.

Your oranda will need a larger tank. If you were to purchase a larger tank, say 20-30g I would say you could add some white clouds or maybe even a dojo loach as both of them don't need a heater. If you keep him in the 10g he will eventually become stunted and will die a premature death. I know tanks can be costly, but you can keep an eye on www.ebay.com or www.craigslist.com or even yardsales are good places to pick them up. I also like to keep an eye on the newspaper classifieds. They usually have tanks in there as well.

If you do get a larger tank, I've had really good luck with shubunkins and orandas. My shubunkins have always kind of formed little schools with any comets or i've had orandas with them too. It's fun to watch them swim in little packs together. Good luck!

long bodieds frequently outcompete roundbodied goldfish for food and therefore shouldnt be mixed.
