question on aquarium salt

I have a 29 gallon community tank. The tank houses....... Platies, Ghost shrimp, Plecos, Syno Cats, and cory cats. I was wondering if it was ok to apply salt to this aquarium with all these type of fish (shrimp) in it?
 
yea i do it dont hurt my fish.
 
It will shorten the lifespan of any freshwater fish. Plain and simple, don't use it. I can give you more info on it if you want.
 
Give me more info from a solid source. I want to see reasons why it will shorten the lifespan of fish.

I would also like to see how it shortens life spans. Just curious. A LFS by me adds salt to all his freshwater tanks in the store no matter what type of fish are in it.
 
yeah dorkfish youre gonna need to give some evidence with a statement that goes against everything about FW salt that ive ever read. im not saying youre wrong, just saying that i want proof.
 
I was to lazy to read alway through it because it was too big and boring. ANd at the top he says its "His Opinion" and not an official source.

And I did stop putting aquarium salt in my tank for now, as Im tired of putting it back in every water change.
 
Freshwater fish are called freshwater for a reason. Just because your LFS or your buddy does something to his tanks, doesnt mean its a good idea. Will keeping salt in your tank be harmful to your fish? Probably, eventually. You wont see a difference immediatly, or maybe even in a year. But chances are they wont live as long as they would have otherwise. No, I dont have any "evidence" to link to. But I'll look, although pretty much everything on the internet is just someones opinion.... :read:
 
Thats what Im talking bout^ Evidence, like proof it harms your fish. Not a 100000 word paragraph on how. I want proof please. :dance2:
