I bought some Gold Barbs a few days ago. Now all signs of my once plentiful snail population have vanished....

It must have been the barbs. I never knew they were into the old escargos. Has anyone else observed this?

I've got gold barbs too and I've noticed teeny weeny empty snail shells in my tank. I got a couple kuhlii loaches and a dojo loach who I have suspected of eating them as well....Off topic, I chipped off and thawed in some purified water, chopped, frozen spinach. I strained it and dropped it in my tank. The gold barbs LOVED it. I put about 1T of spinach in the tank and it was specifically for my large algea eater. Who knew, the rest of my brood was munching away as it drifted about the tank.

I know the stories. I have a small school of Gold Barbs and they will eat almost anything they an get into there mouth. Mine will pick at the gravel in my tank most of the day looking for food. I did have a couple snails in my tank at one point but they have seemed to diappear. Gold Barbs are just small carpe, they will eat almost anything.

I have a barb tank with Gold Barbs, Rosy Barbs and Tiger Barbs and I almost never see any snails in there. I blame the Rosies but the gold barbs are also very greedy. The last time I saw a snail was over 3 months ago and this tank is densely planted.
