Power loss shutoff valve?

Ok.. I was wondering if anyone has seen a valve that automatically shuts off during a power loss?

I would guess that the valve would remain open by a electronic magnet actuator and when the power cuts, the valve would slam shut. This would be perfect for sump systems and help prevent water damage.
 
You can get a normally closed solenoid valve that is held open by electricity. If you lose power the valve will shut. I thought about using one but just decided to design the sump to hold enough water that it won't over flow when the tank drains. Valves tend to reduce flow and solenoids can be pretty expensive.
 
its really not necessary in a well designed sump. unless youre using very large tubing that holds a lot of water or very narrow tubing that siphons slowly (and therefore leaves more water above the intake level), a shutoff valve is not necessary.
