i have a 37 gal. with 5 red-eye tetras in it right now, after it is cycled, i want to put in:

2 german blue rams
1 pearl gourami
1 dwarf gourami
2 dojo loaches
1 yellow lab

and possibly: pleco, angel, snail, butterfly fish, ropefish

my main concern is with the yellow lab, wondering how he will do here

thanks

I have had yellow labs before and they can be aggressive not to confident with mixing with gourami's although if he is smaller than them might not be a problem, but with with these types of chiclids you never know.

The gourami's and rams tend to be more toward the "peaceful" nature. African cichlids (which the yellow lab is) tend to be more aggressive. I think the lab would end up killing the other cichlids in the tank.

gouramis are definately not cichlids, they are labyrinth fish

True. But the rams are, and both are considered peaceful. Yellow labs are not peaceful.

Yellow labs arent really that peaceful, they are just considered one of the most peaceful mbuna. I would not consider it a tropical community fish which is what you are looking for.

And with gouramis, angels, and the butterfly you would have too many top dwellers, with a lot of space you could maybe have 2 of them but even that would be iffy. With that 37 tall I wouldnt try it, doesnt look like enough cover or space.

And if you want a pleco I would suggest bristlenose or other exotics that dont get too big for a 37.
