Hello everyone. I was looking around at an LFS today and noticed that they were having a sale on a 55 gallon salt water set up. Without having the poster in front of me, I am going by memory (which is not what it used to be), but I think it came with a tank, glass tops, light, filter, skimmer, and 50 pounds of live rock.
I have NO experience with salt water except being very envious of others who have one. I am moving in a couple of week to my first house, and so this means salt water could be an option since I know I wouldnt have to ever move it. I am thinking about a reef tank with just a couple of fish, but I would definately settle for a FOWLR tank, if it was more appropriate for my skill level.
I have also heard alot about using a 'sump' and this tank did not come with one. The whole kit cost 700 dollars (US) and the only thing I would definately have to buy is a stand, which I would most likely do as a DIY project. I have this same tank right now in a freshwater system, and it is pretty nice. Do you think it would be worth the money or are there spacific questions I should ask about this kit to ensure I am getting everything I need?
