To etablish a large population of of living things on live rock (algae aside) has anyone given any thought on to feeding live rock? I think you cuould save a lot more creatures if you focused the early aquaruim around them, correct?
ie; feeding with high light and pytoplankton?

Some people use (and sometimes culture there own) phytoplankton to feed the pods in the rocks. I personally haven't bothered feeding anything smaller than my corals (and even then I rarely feed them), but I probably will start with the phytoplankton if I decide to re-design my reef around a mandrin when I uprade it to a larager tank.

Unless you have an animal who feeds mainly on pods (such as the mandarin dorkfish mentioned), I wouldn't worry too much about it.
