Not sure where it went! I had it in a 10g with no lid for week and a half moved it to my 55g about 2 days ago and now it has vanished. 55 has a lid and little room for him to escape with his shell.. Do they burrow in the gravel? Really strange not sure where it went. anyone else experience this?

55G's is a pretty large tank, sometimes i have trouble finding maybe 1 of my 3 mystery snails in my 20G. they are usually hiding the plants (if you have any) inside or around ornaments, or can even be hanging upside down on the hood. just this weekend while i was gone, one of mystery snails escaped my tank because my sister left the hood slightly open after feeding the fish. he fell, sort of cracked his shell and rolled all the way to my bed a couple of feet away. fortunately my sister found it on the floor and placed him back in. after unraveling himself and releasing stuck air pockets in his shell, he slithering on though i hope it's shell heals. your snail might just be hiding.

in other words, keep looken... and look arround the out side of the tank....

Yeah, they are good about hiding and escaping especially if its a female (they will try to get to a humid but dry area to lay their clutch). Look around the tank well and in the tank. Don't give up too easily as a snail can go up to (sometimes more) a week out of water and be fine when placed back into the tank :)

Good luck.
