OK - my Gourami is bloated today. I've had him 15 days, he never seemed quite right. He started to poop white last week, so Sunday and Monday I treated him and the tank with Jungle Parasite clear. Today, Tuesday he is looking more and more bloated (not pinecone - just swollen).

I just bought maracyn 2 for dropsy. Should I remove the medication (using this poly filter) and treat the whole tank, which includes the 3 guppies. I feel like I need to treat the water in that tank. Or drop him in a bucket with old water and just treat him until I go pick up my hospital tank?

This is a 10g tank. I do water changes every 5 days. Temp is around 76
Ammonia/Nitrites are 0
PH has increased to 7.4

:help: :help: :help:

I would just treat the whole tank as every fish has been exposed and needs to be treated as well. A hospital tank is good to have an hand for future issues, but unnecessary at this point in this situation.

any visible signs?

white poop could be several things including bacterial and/or parasites.

is he eating? clamped fins? hiding?

bloating could be parasite..but it's not definate. could also be bloat(dropsy), constipation etc.

dropsy appears to have Sx of scales sticking out?? not sure as i never dealt with dropsy seems to be a problem in african cichlids from time to time.

I have dealt with parasites they can also cause a bloated appearance. jungle parasite clear is fairly effective

there are also anti parasite and anti bacterial foods available.

good luck

He is hiding
His appetite has decrease dramatically
Def bloated today (day 3 of having the Jungle clear in there)
No, the scales are not sticking out.
I tried to feed him a shelled pea - not really interested
If it is an internal parasite and not dropsy, would the maracyn 2 help with that?
